Private & duo
Private Pilates in Montreal
Private Pilates at MTLPILATES gives you dedicated 1-on-1 instruction across the full apparatus system: Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, Ladder Barrel and Mat. It is the best way to start if you are recovering from injury, pregnant, working with a specific goal, or simply want faster progression.

What is a private Pilates session?
A private is 50 minutes with one instructor, one client and the run of the studio. Every apparatus is available, including the Cadillac, which never appears in a group class, and the whole session is built around your body, your history and what you are training for.
Nothing about it is standard. The instructor chooses the apparatus, sets the springs and changes the plan mid-session if your body asks for something different that day. That is the part a room of twelve cannot give you, and it is why rehabilitation, prenatal and postnatal work starts here rather than in a class.
A single private is $100 for 50 minutes ($130 with the lead instructor), and packs of five or ten bring the rate down. Sessions with the lead instructor are priced separately, and both rates are detailed in the tables below.
Who a private is for

Rehabilitation & injury
Post-injury, post-surgery, or living with a diagnosis. This work is private-first and needs clearance from your physician or physiotherapist before the first session, which is a requirement rather than a suggestion.

Prenatal & postnatal
Pregnancy and recovery change week by week, so this work is done in a private or a duo where every exercise can be adapted. A group opens only when there is enough demand to fill one.

A focused start
Learning the method properly before joining a class, working on one specific goal, or simply wanting the Cadillac, which is taught in private and duo sessions only and never in a group.
What is a duo session?
A duo is the same 50-minute session shared with one other person: $120 for the two of you, or $60 each if you split it. You bring your own partner. The studio does not pair strangers, so a duo is for a friend, a spouse, a parent or a colleague.
Everything else is a private: the same 50 minutes, the same apparatus, the same instructor watching two people instead of twelve. Prenatal and postnatal work can be done as a duo as well as one to one.
The half-share, $60 a session or $290 for five, is the only line on this page that is not sold online. The studio takes it at the desk, so ask when you book. Everything else can be bought straight from the tables below.
Can we book as three or four?
Yes. A trio is $150, a quad is $200 and a privatized group session is $300, all 50 minutes. The pass is bought online. For a trio or a privatized group the studio then schedules the session with you rather than you picking a slot yourself.
One price covers the room, and the studio does not publish a per-person split for these, so treat each figure as the price of the session rather than as a rate per head. All three are pre-tax, like every other figure on this page.

Each line shows the rate per session first, with the pack total beside it, so the packs can be compared without arithmetic. All figures are pre-tax.

Good to know
Private and duo questions
Why choose MTLPILATES for your practice?
MTLPILATES is a contemporary studio dedicated to teaching the complete apparatus system as intended: Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, Ladder Barrel and Mat. With small, supervised classes, hands-on adjustments, and dedicated prenatal, postnatal and rehabilitation expertise, we provide attentive, personalized guidance in a warm and welcoming downtown studio.
Should I choose private or group Pilates classes?
Private lessons are tailored to your specific goals with progressions and modifications for any injury. Group lessons cost less per class, offer a motivating social setting and run at multiple levels. Most clients do both: group classes for consistency, and a periodic private session to check form, placement and control.
Can I do Pilates while pregnant or after giving birth?
Yes. MTLPILATES teaches prenatal and postnatal Pilates on the full apparatus system. During pregnancy, we strongly recommend private lessons or duos, with small group lessons available upon request. Clearance from your physician or midwife is required before starting. Contact the studio at info@mtlpilates.ca and an instructor will recommend the safest format for your stage and history.
What should I bring to my first Pilates class?
Bring a water bottle and grip socks. Anti-slip Pilates socks are available to buy at the studio if you do not own a pair. Wear fitted clothing so your instructor can see your alignment. Eat a light snack beforehand rather than a full meal, since you will bend and rotate in every direction.
Do I need experience to start Pilates at MTLPILATES?
No. Foundations, Reformer Level 1/2, is open to everyone, with no experience and no flexibility required. The studio recommends 4 to 12 classes at that level, mixed with Chair & Barrel, before moving up. The themed All Level classes each set their own entry: some ask for around five Reformer classes behind you, while Slow Aging is open to all ages and levels. Each class page says which.
How long is a Pilates class at MTLPILATES?
Group sessions run 50 minutes. Private and duo sessions are also 50 minutes and are available on every apparatus. Classes are kept intentionally small so instructors can provide hands-on adjustments, dedicated attention and personalized feedback throughout every session.
Does MTLPILATES offer classes in French?
Yes. Most of our instructors teach in both French and English, and classes on the schedule are run bilingually. Tell us which you prefer when you book and we will let your instructor know.
Start one to one.
First-time clients can begin with three private sessions for $225, before tax. Tell us what you are working with when you book, and the instructor builds the first session around it.
