Diversify your practice beyond the Reformer.

Reformer work is a valuable part of a balanced Pilates practice, but it shouldn’t be the only tool. Joe Pilates designed a system where each piece of equipment complements the others.

Certain sensations and movement patterns are best learned on specific apparatus—the Wunda Chair teaches precision, balance and control, the Ladder Barrel deepens spinal articulation, and the Reformer integrates those skills into dynamic movement. Skipping these progressions can make technical concepts harder to grasp.

A well-rounded practice develops the body more completely. It’s like going to the gym and only using one machine—limited and inefficient.

Combine Reformer classes with Mat work, Chair, and Ladder Barrel, supplemented by occasional private sessions, to build resilience, correct imbalances, and ensure steady progress.

Exploring every piece of apparatus allows cross-referencing techniques and developing a well-rounded, sustainable practice.
